Stop Frame Animator is a new Flash activity on the Film Street website where students can create their own simple animations using a virtual camera and props. Students can even add sound effects and music to their creations.

This site, with resources and activities suitable for use with year 5 & 6 pupils, has been created by teacher Lara Jeffries. It explores the theme of “diaries” through engaging activities looking at several different texts. It features some good suggestions on how blogging can be used to enhance and demonstrate the understanding of texts and provides some useful links for those wanting to set up their own blogs.

Create-A-Space is a really interesting site from Futurelab that provides resources and practical help for teachers and students who are interesting in creating their own mediascapes. A mediascape is composed of sounds, images and video placed outside in your local area. To see the images and video, and hear the sounds you need a handheld computer (PDA) and a pair of headphones. The site provides step-by-step instructions and links to free software to enable students to make mediascapes of their own.

• Energised – an animated resource that helps 7-11 year olds find out more about the fascinating topic of energy, using fun films, worksheets, experiments and interactive word games.
• Safe on the Street – a road safety education resource for 7-11 years olds, their teachers and parents that teaches them how to keep safe on the street with fun activities, stories, puzzles, quizzes and competitions.
• Cool Wayz – Using a variety of activities, Cool Wayz encourages 9-14 year olds, in the upper primary/lower secondary ‘transition period’ to make the right choices about personal safety as they start to travel independently.
